Hitachi C8FB2 8-1/2" Sliding Compound Miter Saw with Rousseau deluxe saw stand.
The Saw:
Hitachi C8FB2 8-1/2" Sliding Compound Miter Saw. 9-1/2 amp motor; spindle lock; 2 inch tall fences; soft start. Has bevel and miter detents. Positive stops at 0, 15, 22-1/2, 31.6, and 45 degrees, right and left. Dead accurate! One adjustable hold down which can be used on either side. Dust bag. Dust collection can be attached. One saw blade in the machine; another sharpened and unused since sharpening. Sharpened by Forrest Saw blade Company. I have installed zero clearance slips where blade retracts when cutting. The original plastic slips are included.
The Stand:
Rousseau 2950 Miter Saw Stand. This stand cost more than the saw! This is heavy duty, foldable stand with pneumatic tires. The tires have been remounted and inflated by a tire store here in Chicago. They should stay inflated for a long time. They allow the stand to be folded up and transported to a job site. When positioned, metal extenders can be employed to lift the tires, so that the stand is not supported by the tires. The stand supports the saw at a 35-1/2" work height. The extendable rollers are adjustable for height and distance from the main stand, allowing support for long pieces. This stand is very stable.
For many wood workers, the 8-1/2" blade is sufficient for their needs. I have never had a problem with the blade size as I make mostly boxes. If I am mitering, the 45 degree corners fit perfectly. Once the correct angle is located, the saw tightens down and stays in place. It is very easy to locate where the cut will be on the wood, by lowering the blade and locating the exact place for the saw blade will cut. No need for a laser; this method is more exact.
